DO turn on your microphone before you start to sing and turn it off when your song is finished.
-
DON'T swing the microphone by the cord or cup it with your hand. This can cause damage to the microphone or your ears (feedback noise hurts!! Ouch!!).
-
DO hold the microphone by its body close to your mouth during your song. We can best modulate the volume for you this way.
-
DON'T hit the microphone with your hand to check if it's on. Speak with a normal voice into it and we will adjust the volume for you.
-
DO encourage your friends to clap or sing along to your song from their seats.
-
DON'T come up and take a microphone when it is not your turn or your song, even if you love the song or think you can help. All other microphones are shut off from the board during a song unless the person singing motions to us that it is all right for you to do so.
-
DO feel free to ask for our help in finding a song in the book. Please be patient if we are already assisting someone.
-
DO come up and tell us if there is a song you would like to see in our books. This is the best way for us to expand our songlist. Writing it down for us helps too!
-
DON'T write up a song slip for anyone other than yourself. Especially without asking them first!
-
DO tell us if this is your first time singing Karaoke. We will be happy to help you make this new experience enjoyable.
-
DON'T boo anyone who is singing. You will be asked to leave.
-
DO be understanding if you must wait a while to sing your song. We estimate our rotation time by average song length (4 minutes) and number of singers. A 10 person rotation will be approx. a 40 minute wait.
-
DON'T ask us to move you up in the rotation for any reason. It is not fair to anyone else. We are happy to have you with us, but we must be fair to everyone who wishes to sing.
-
DON'T forget to tip your bartender.
-
DO come back and sing with us again.
-
There is no extra fee to sing Karaoke, however, businesses provide Karaoke entertainment at their tavern or restaurant for the pleasure of their paying customers. If you are not a customer of the establishment, please don't sign up for Karaoke.
-
Some Karaoke songs last longer than 4 minutes. (i.e. Paradise by the Dashboard Lights, American Pie, Picture, Freebird, Stairway to Heaven etc.) A rotation with one of these songs in it will last longer than our average rotation time estimate.
-
TWO-FER'S rotation means that each singer will get to sing TWO songs one immediately after the other. This rotation does take more time between turns and is usually done when there are 5 or less singers. We always attempt to finish a Two-fer's rotation before changing back to single song rotations.
-
Karaoke music is NOT the original recording!! Studio bands perform the songs for Karaoke disks, which is why it doesn't always sound the same as on the radio.
-
There are many different Karaoke companies putting out versions of popular songs. When you see a song listed with many different letter and number combinations in our books, that means each version has been done by a different Karaoke Company with a different studio band. Feel free to ask us which version to choose if you are unsure.

Karaoke is fun, entertaining and an interactive way to pass the time!! We appreciate your help in creating a pleasurable time for everyone!
